ALTEC Lansing DUPLEX 15" Speakers 604-8G SUPER NICE! - eBay (item 280531535879 end time Jul-12-10 18:01:53 PDT)
Interesting that they have the E style rear cover, and the label on the magnet, rather than on the rear driver cap.
I've never seen a pair like this, was this common? Obviously with s/n's in the 1000 range, a few were made!

Nice looking speakers:2thumbsup:.

Nice.
I must say, the angle in the first pic Analog really shows clearly that it is a 515 magnet and an 802 magnet joined.
What cab are they in?
Also do they have Tangerines?
The listed pair s/n are 810, 1032
Thought it was an 828 type.
Unusual to see a 604 in one, how do the sound?
And did you have to make a special back cover for the box? The drivers are too deep otherwise, right?
No foolin' youse guys....
Here's my dining room....
I got 'em from a local fellow who I know from AK who found them locally for, get this.....
$100.....
I picked them up from him for $1000 and a nice pair of 872B Madrids. I couldn't begrudge him the $$$ since he needed a new heat pump and is unemployed. I got the madrids back later for $200 with a new set of EMIT tweeters included....:khan:
I haven't looked to see what phase plugs are in them, and that greyish substance is dust or some schmutz of some kind
They sound pretty darn good on a SET 45 amp and Mac 110Z, with my only criticism being a little lack of bottom end, but not much. The 828 is one of the late versions, and has a hole cut in the back for the end cap to stick out of.
I'm planning on moving them to a different cabinet, like this one which came from another AKer out of Atlanta and had 604's in them. Some day I'd like to get some nice big cabs, like 620's or so, but for now, these will have to do.
The cabinets have a set of my original 515's in them, and will prolly trade places with the 604's when I get moved into my new mancave.....:2thumbsup:
